Orcia valley full immersion




Dedicated to visiting the Artistic, Natural and Cultural Park. Stay in the Park of the Val d’Orcia and overnight one of the three UNESCO cities characteristic shops offering the typical products of the Val d’Orcia; the standout is the famous pecorino di Pienza cheese springs station that has been utilized since the Middle Ages, is highly evocative with its piazza consisting of a thermal pool.

Itinerary:

You stay in one location and enjoy day rides, returning to your base each evening. The formula is for a short stay of four nights, perfect as a quick break from business travel or as an extension to other vacation activities. 
There´s no need to pack bags and move on to new locations.

There is no guide, no sag wagon and no group to hurry you along or slow you down. Pedal at your own pace, ancient roads through the rolling countryside of Tuscany, past quiet hill towns, sloping vineyards and centuries-old villas with cypress-lined drives.

Discover by bike: Montalcino, situated on a hilltop dominating the famous Brunello vineyards with its imposing fortress. Taste the prized red wine in one of the local enotecas. S. Quirico d'Orcia, where you can visit the Collegiata and the Leonini Gardens with district of Bagno Vignoni, a thermal springs station that has been utilized since the Middle Ages, is highly evocative with its piazza consisting of a thermal pool.

2. Moderate to Challenging Option - daily Average 60 km
Day one - Circular bike ride from Pienza to Montepulciano, via Sant'anna in Camprena, Castelmuzio, Petroio. Then from Montepulciano come back via Monticchiello. Km 50
Day two - Bike ride from Pienza to Montalcino, via Bagno Vignoni, Castiglione d'Orcia and Sant'Antimo. This itinerary is beautiful, not long but hard for the steep uphill from Bagno Vignoni to Castiglione d'Orcia. Length: 46 km.
day three - Bike ride to San Quirico, San Giovanni d’Asso, Monte Oliveto Maggiore Abbey, Montisi, Castelmuzio. Total distance 56 km.
Day four - Bike ride to Radicofani & Contignano total distance 70
