An ancient land with an ancient language Sardinia is a uniquely fascinating place, forged by many centuries of culture and history, in its strategic position at the center of Mediterranean, standing silently ever-present across the island, the enigmatic nuraghes: these round fortresses built in pre-historic times still survive

Itinerary:
Day One – arrival Alghero
Arrival alghero airport and transfer to hotel Carlo V – Bike fitting. The Sardinian town of Alghero is a lively and pretty city and a flourishing tourist attraction not only for the summer masses and elite tourism but also for a new cosmopolitanism. Welcome dinner at ai Tuguri restaurant Lodging  Hotel Carlo V    

Day Two – bike ride to Bosa via Villanova Monteleone and back  skirting coast. 
Distance   105 km/65,5 miles 
The ride to Bosa is 60 km inland via Villanova through cork oak forest. admire the murales in Monteresta. Bosa was founded in ancient times – it was a strongly fortified town, from around the year 1000, and enjoyed considerable prosperity as a result of its strategic position. free dinner in Alghero

Day Three – ride to Arbatax via Ittiri, Thiesi, Foresta di Burgos, Bono
Distance: 95 km/59 miles  in Bono or 140 km/87,5 miles  ending in Nuoro.  
we will ride in fields of artichokes and forest,  our goal is Arbatax, a small harbour in the Ogliastra region. The centre of this small town rises at the bottom of Cape Bellavista – territory enriched with the green-colored Mediterranean scrub and famous for the characteristic red rocks and the masses of porphyritic granite located close to the harbour.  gourmet dinner at Hotel Arbatasar

 

Day Four Circular bike ride inland: Urzulei, Baunei, Santa Maria navarrese.
Distance 88 km/ 55 miles.
First goal of day is climb to Urzulei, first stop for a caffè break. Enjoy the up and down to Baunei,
it looks more  like a mountain village than a seaside village, despite its position near the sea. The vast area inland is also extremely beautiful especially the Golgo a wild and empty calcareous plateau lying above the town. Let’s enjoy a very long downhill from Baunei until we stop in Santa Maria Navarrese a group of country houses around a rural church on the  splendid and unspoilt coastlineDinner at agriturismo I Mandorli a typical Sardinia dinner.

Day five  - Bike ride to Barumini via Perdasdefogu, Orroli, Nurri.
Distance 88 km/55 miles  
Sardinia is well-known not only for its natural beauties but also for its typical and peculiar buildings called Nuraghe, first appearing during the Bronze Age, symbol of this island.
Barumini is a small village situated in the middle of Sardinia, known for the most important archaeological site of the island; the nuraghic complex we will visit with a guide. Back in the saddle and continue to Sardara, few hills wait for us.

Day six – Bike ride to Carbonia via coast Bugerru, Fontanamare.
Distance 95 km/59 miles
Let’s start with a gentle downhill from Sardara and we warm up muscle in a flat part. Then start the up to Arbus through  prickly pears (everywhere in Sardinia).  Then we reach the coast and enjoy a beautiful view of this wild coast. Admire the “pan di Zucchero” an outcropping rock  133 meters high and has two natural arches, and the little fish village Bugerru.End of ride in Fontanamare,  short transfer to Cantine Santadi for wine tasting and visit cellars After wine tasting transfer to  Santa Margherita di Pula at charming and elegant is morus hotel with private beach. Dinner da Giancarlo in Pula, great sea food. 

Day seven  – Circular bike ride on the coast Domus de Maria, Teulada, Chia
distance 66 km/ 41 miles 
We will ride inland to Domus de Maria and we face the only big hill just before Teulada. Then we will enjoy the up and down skirting Baia Chia.  It is a fantastic seaside spot: the white sandy beaches, the high sand dunes and the crystalline water have a Caribbean feel. It is only the Mediterranean vegetation and in particular the juniper trees, “Ginepro” typical of this region, that remind you this fantastic island is in the Mediterenean.Farewell dinner at agriturismo le Margherite

Day eight - after breakfast end of tour: transfer to Cagliari airport
